Latin America Air Cargo Demand Falls

According to IATA, air cargo demand in Latin America and the Caribbean fell 4.8% year-on-year in November, the worst performance globally, while global demand rose 5.5%. Weakness in the Americas was offset by growth in emerging markets and the Middle East.

Latin America Air Cargo Demand Falls

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported a 4.8% year-on-year decrease in cargo demand for Latin America and the Caribbean in November, marking the worst performance among all regions. Meanwhile, global demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTK), increased by 5.5% compared to November 2024. 'Air cargo demand grew 5.5% year-on-year in November, driven by carriers prioritizing timely deliveries ahead of the year-end festive season,' said IATA Director General Willie Walsh. He added that 'strong demand from emerging markets and selective growth in the Middle East more than compensated for weakness in the Americas amid ongoing adjustment to the new US tariff regime.'
